Top Jobs of 2009
There seems to only be negative news related to the economy in 2009, including the job market. The good news is that while some industries are seeing lay-offs and downturns, there are other industries that are thriving.
Here are some of the top industries in 2009:
- Medical-The health care industry has been seeing a huge boom over the last few years. This does not mean you have to rush out and get a medical degree, although the more education, the better. The majority of health care markets around the country have jobs available from medical technicians to registered nurses, but each industry varies. Keep in mind that the boom is being seen on the service end of the industry, not so much on the administrator end, although some markets are also seeking out administrative positions as well.
- Education-No matter what the economy looks like for other industries, the field of education seems to always be fairly consistent as far as the job market goes. Especially in the departments of primary and secondary school teachers, there will always be the need, no matter how big of a recession America is seeing because students are required to go to school.
The same holds true for post-secondary education, because during a recession, people are going back to college to find a new job or career field. An increasing number of instructors are needed to teach these rising numbers of students coming back to school.
- Technology-Although there have been ups and downs in the technology industry, right now computer related positions are in demand and will continue to be so throughout the next few years, according to industry analysts. Keep in mind that jobs in technology might not be open at large computer based corporations, but instead will call for software engineers at smaller companies that are looking for someone who can perform a variety of technology related functions within their business.
- EnvironmentalAs the recession continues, homeowners and companies will be looking for a variety of ways to continue "going green." This has as much to do with saving money as it does with creating a better image for the public. Because this industry is so new, it is difficult to say the number of jobs that will be available over the next few years, but since the problems with the environment are not going away anytime soon, the focus on environmental related jobs will continue to remain steady.
- TelecommutingTelecommuting jobs are on the rise in every industry. There are a number of factors related to this, including saving costs on gasoline, the costs associated with renting or buying physical space, the availability of technology to assist with communication, and the need for companies to be flexible with benefits and insurance. The major point to keep in mind here is that this will allow job seekers to look outside of their local geographical region when searching for jobs.
