Finding Jobs Online The Internet has become one of the most prominent resources for performing a job search. This allows job seekers to research potential jobs from the comfort of their own homes, and help to narrow down possibilities. One of your first priorities in performing an online job search is to pool the abundance of online resources to help you determine exactly what type of job you are interested in. Spend some time putting in search engine keywords related to your education and potential career options and see what turns up. This will help you determine where to go in your online job search. Online job searches have become so common that many organizations have begun requiring applications and resumes to be submitted via the Internet. Many companies also have websites with a human resources section that will lead you right to potential jobs. Even if there is no information regarding employment, you can still find someone to contact. It does not hurt to simply shoot someone an email to ask whether or not they are hiring for a position you maybe qualified to fill. In many cases, though, there will be a location on the website to actually submit a resume, cover letter, and fill out the company application. Depending on the organization, it will either be an application that can be downloaded and mailed in or one that can be saved to your computer, filled out and emailed in. This maybe an application that is required by the specific company or one that is required by state, depending on whether or not the company is a state organization or not. Another great place to perform an online job search is through a professional trade magazine or journal. Instead of just looking in a basic classified newspaper ad online, these magazines and journals will be specifically geared towards the type of career you are interested in. Most of them will allow you to put in specific keywords, locations, or educational requirements to help narrow your search. The Internet has recently become a resource for networking with friends and family members. Because of the prominence of the social networking sites that have emerged, new websites are starting to pop up that have the same premise, but are instead professional networking sites. An example of this is Linkedin.com, a site that allows potential job seekers the opportunity to make connections with those in their business community. |
